Champions of Wrestling

Champions of WrestlingThe word "Wrestling" could quite possibly be one of the oldest words STILL used in the English vocabulary to describe hand to hand contact.

Wrestling is commonly viewed as both barbaric, and phony, neither of which is really what wrestling is. Wrestling is a sport that involves self defense, and competition.

The reason that wrestling is viewed to be fake/phony, by most people, is the direction in which "Professional Wrestling" has gone. The televised wrestling that is out there, is completely different from Sumo Wrestling, Greco-Roman Wrestling, or even freestyle wrestling, and is somewhat staged, and has a fixed ending for the most part. It is believed in Professional Wrestling, that all the blood and injuries are faked. In most cases the "in ring" injuries and blood MAY be staged, some of the major injuries that the Professional Wrestlers end up with are very real. Many Professional Wrestlers, and any wrestler in general suffer from injuries ranging from pulled ligaments, to severe neck, back, and head injuries, which sadly leads to addiction for pain medication in some cases.

A type of wrestling that has come along and gained more popularity recently, is known as "Backyard Wrestling". Which is where the competitors compete in either a backyard setting as stated, or in a renegade type of place/way, (for instance at a school, playground, empty warehouse or any type setting such as that), and usually does not take place in a ring, however there are instances when Backyard Wrestling does take place in a ring.

Backyard Wrestling is a very dangerous sport, but it is more common place than people are willing to believe.

Many people who are backyard renegades sustain serious injury, because some of them do not know how to take bumps in the right way or how to perform a maneuver in the right way, and end up severely hurt, and in some cases paralyzed. Not to take away from the sport, some of them really know what they are doing, and just enjoy the backyard/renegade part of it. Or would rather wrestle in the backyard setting to enjoy the sport, and not have to deal with the politics of the Professional Wrestling world.

Backyard Wrestling as it is known, is considered a "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME" sort of sport.

There are six different recognized wrestling styles, with many different disciplines, most of which fall under the wrestling style called "Folk Style.

The styles of Wrestling are Judo, Sambo, Freestyle, Folk Style, Greco-Roman, and Professional Wrestling.

The difference between all of these wrestling styles, and professional Wrestling is simply put, "Professional Wrestling is Wrestling for Money."

It is not to say that some of the other styles of wrestling do not get paid, but Professional Wrestlers ARE Paid to perform.

Being a Champion of Wrestling, doesn't necessarily mean that the wrestler has held a  championship title, it means that they have mastered their sport and that they are good at it from the sport itself to the "in ring persona" all of it is achieved greatly and seemingly with ease.
